Dolce Vita en Ponte Vedra

My people,
This past week went by rather quickly. The work front was quite busy and I am happy to report I survived my first calling campaign. We released the applications for our Pebble Beach event last week so Bethanny (my intern) and I were given the task of calling all 200 Chapters to inform them that the application for the most anticipated event of the year was finally out. Sounds exciting huh?
We joke around that Bethanny is my intern because sometimes I have so many projects that I have to call her to help me with busy work like scanning, filing, labeling, etc. You know, intern stuff!

Speaking of work...the internship is going great. I get to play employee golf twice a week and we get all the free coffee, tea, coke and Dasani water we want at the office...woohoo...But in all seriousness, I'm meeting key people in the industry and trying to learn from the best. Laura is very good at her job and an awesome boss. I can honestly say she's the best employer I've ever had the pleasure of working for/with. She's professional, organized, detailed and very respected among her colleagues. A very good role model for females looking to establish a career in the non-profit side of the golf industry. Looks like I'm finally moving up in the world.
Oka enough of the work stuff, lets move into the fun part of the week...the WEEKEND! This time our "inner circle" took a day trip to Amelia Island for some kayaking along the intercoastal waterways. We kayaked for about 1.5 hrs until we reached a sandbar where a few dolphins came out and played with us. Then we headed back to the mainland, but this time against the current...The return trip felt like we kayaked for 80 hours. It was rough. I didn't think some of us were going to make it. Four hours on a kayak feels like a lifetime...but it was sooo worth it!
Here are some visuals:

The Dream Team...don't we look so happy? Our expressions were not the same on the return trip...The tandems getting the basics of kayaking
Safety first...
I'm not in the picture because I was probably making sure my cooler fit in my kayak
Leah and Brandon

On our way...
Flippers!
They got stuck in the mud so Brandon had to help pull them out...
Another week for the books. All in all good times were had. Perhaps the highlight of my week was reminiscing about movies of our childhood-The Goonies, Sister Act 2, Blank Check, Hook, Cool Runnings, Clueless and Little Giants. Love those! If you think of any others please comment...my roommate Emily has not seen any of the above (deprived childhood we assume) so we are making a list of movies she needs to watch before the summer ends.
Holiday weekend coming up! Yours truly will head up to the ATL for the highly anticipated Duke-Jackson wedding. I'm excited to see my little friend in her wedding dress...I will keep you posted!
Ciao for now.

Weekly update

Another one for the books...this week went by rather quickly and we had a ton of action down here in the intern front. More specifically, this week took me back to the college days of house parties, pre gaming, turning 21, thieves, bed bugs, black cats, raccoons, sharks, etc. You name it and we've got it!
A few days ago we spotted a black cat in the parking lot...The next day someone broke into Nicki's car and smashed her window. A few days later, apartment 932, ex-home of the other intern girls was found to have a case of bed bugs after Nina and Diana woke up one morning itching like crazy. To make matters worse, they had to move out of the place into another apartment while 932 is treated to get rid of those nasty creatures! Since Nicki's (932 resident) room was "clean" she moved in the spare bed in our apartment for the time being. But don't worry people she had to go through the annoying process of washing all of her clothes and spraying her belongings before entering 917. I no longer have my own room...but its for a good cause.
Anyways, so we had planned to have my roommate Leah's 21st bday party at 932. But we planned it for the same day we found out about the whole bed bug situ. It was probably not safe to have everyone over at bed bug city, but since it was already decorated and everyone knew to go to 932 we decided to stick to our original plan. When people asked about the BB rumors we just told them it was at another apartment. Turned out to be a good time!

That couch we are sitting on was removed the next day because it was probably infested...

What you don't know won't hurt you...
What beach are we going to today? What/Where are we eating later? Did you put my wine in the cooler? Did anyone bring water? Beach and food, that's what my weekend consisted of. Also, my new friend Dan from Sunrise surf shop hooked me up with a sweet paddle board for the weekend and it was a blast. Some of the interns tried it and had quite a few wipe outs...

Perfect weekend for SUP

A fisherman tells us: "We've caught about 20 baby sharks here today"...right after I had been in the water for like an hour! Here's evidence:

In the spirit of Fathers Day I decided to celebrate...this one's in your name pops

Beach bloopers take 1
Beach bloopers take 2...somewhere underneath the board is Brandon
Pre rib dinner munchies...

Turned out to be a good week even though it had its rocky moments. Well my peeps, ciao for now. Good night and oh yea, don't let the bed bugs bite!

A weekend well spent

Hola mi gente! Another week flew by so I thought I would update you on the latest. We kicked off the weekend just right with 2 for 1 happy hour at Aqua Grill on Friday afternoon. Then we dusted off the old hips and got a private salsa lesson at Cuba Libre, a Latin lounge we found online. It was a cool place, better than the last one we found online (let's put it this way, the last one we attempted to go to had a sign on the door that said they had been evicted for not paying their rent in the past 7 moths...gotta love my people!). To make a long story short, it was good times...Check it out!
Interns at the softball game...if you can't see me it's because I was taking the picture.

I could live here. But no worries Aguadilla, you are always on my mind...
